The board's spy on Nextdoor - Mark Kantrowitz

All is not well in Coco Wood Lakes, and it's hard to get our messages and information to our neighbors and fellow homeowners on Nextdoor because the board has a few overly loyal cohorts as moderators and reviewers on Nextdoor. They delete our messages and posts about the problems and issues we face in our community to keep issues and vital information about board activity from the homeowners. The board tries very hard to suppress any negative information they don't want homeowners to know about.

The board's loyal and long-time ally, Mark Kantrowitz, is a moderator on NextDoor, and board member Joann Orlando is a NextDoor reviewer. These two ALWAYS vote to delete any negative, yet factual information posted about them or the board that they don't want homeowners to know. They even falsely report the most sublime comments as "disrespectful" in attempts to get Jim's NextDoor account suspended during each election. That has happened in three of the last five years. They try very hard to prevent his documented information from getting to the homeowners. Their actions are retaliatory. This especially includes former board president, bruce richard, who mainly goes on NextDoor to launch his unsupported lies, rants, and personal attacks on Jim to divert attention from the topic of Jim's post. It's his guilt-ridden defensive mechanism kicking in. (more on him on another page.)

Mark K and Joann Orlando recently deleted some posts about the 2026 budget, our Zoom meetings, and even tried to interfere with our meetings when Kantrowitz made a post on Nextdoor asking people to inform him if they plan to attend our meetings (see screenshot below). This is not normal behavior by any means and has all the markings of suppression of free speech, oppression, and dictatorship. Such conduct appears intended to suppress the dissemination of information to homeowners and interferes with residents’ ability and right to receive and review materials relevant to community governance.

Over the years, Mark has also been regularly going around the community stealing our election flyers from homes where we distributed them. This is how badly and underhandedly certain board members and their cult-like followers behave during elections. Several people caught Mark in the act of stealing our election flyers from their front door. Others caught him doing that on their doorbell cameras. One person caught him stealing our election flyers twice and posted the incidents on Nextdoor (see screenshot below). This is the length the board and their supporters are willing to go to hide the truth, tamper with elections, and remain in control. This amounts to cheating during elections, and Mark's stealing of flyers constitutes petty theft, which is a criminal misdemeanor. Mark is still actively complicit in the abuses from the board, as he also disconnected Jim Young from a board meeting he was attending on Zoom while he was speaking. Mark has also used the computer in the clubhouse to selectively disseminate emails to the community that contained false, libelous, and manufactured lies against Jim Young.

This behavior further demonstrates complicity in ongoing governance abuses and a total disregard for transparency and open communication within the community.

There seems to be no limit as to how low these board members, former board members, and their supporters will go to keep homeowners in the dark, prevent negative information from getting out to homeowners, compartmentalize and isolate homeowners, maintain control of our community, and keep lying to us. These people are ruining our community and spreading hate. This is corruption, and it runs deep. We need to clean house.

Mark also has a criminal record for a charge of domestic violence on his ex-wife, Debra, whom he abandoned in Maryland, leaving her with several large debts she had to sue him for after their divorce.

Part of Mark's criminal record includes a felony, criminal traffic conviction for driving into a train … yes, a train in broad daylight. A resident did a background check on him in 2014 while Mark was on the board. The revelation of the details in that background check, particularly the felony, is what forced his removal from the board when it was made public.

Everyone knows that someone with a FELONY cannot be a board member. We are sure Mark knew the law, but tried to get away with it. Mark has proven himself to be UNTRUSTWORTHY.
